Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
In today's world it is certainly difficult to ignore money. Perhaps it is somewhat easier to keep from loving money. But having money makes life so much easier, and not having any money makes life so difficult. If we were all taking better care of one another, (living lives which God intended), money might be less of an idol for us. God wants us to know He will not forsake us, and He will be with us always, making sure we have what we need, according to His will. This is a tough lesson to take in.
Holy Father, I know I don't always remember you are in control and I already have what you intend for me to have. Help me to trust in your provision. Amen

Hebrews 13:5
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
In his letter to Timothy, Paul also warns that the love of money is a root of all sorts of evils and that some believers who sort after money become less than faithful. When the love of money rears its ugly head, it creates a greedy heart causing stress and discontentment. Three times this scripture saids emphatically that God will not leave us helpless. When the lord saids something once we should believe he is serious. Saying it three times strongly emphasizes his promise to never lea…
Hebrews 13:5 This is one of my pet peeves, as some of you know the challenges I have been going through these last few month, it just amazes me, appalls me!!! I just can’t say how frustrating this is! It also reminds me of golden calf, the idols and then, the first commandment! So this ties it all together for me not to love money ! Materialism just doesn’t work and unfortunately our society today doesn’t help it so it’s our job as Christians to get the the news out to love God and to love one another and walk humbly with our God.
Dear Lord, Thank you for the scripture today, and I pray that I can spread the word…
Hebrews 13-5
There are a few places in the Bible that warn us about the “love” of money. Today, our culture seems to ask just the opposite of us. We are told we need more and more money in order to buy more and more goods that will bring us satisfaction and happiness. In reality they seldom do or it is short-lived. We are reminded in this verse that God will always be there to provide for us and, therefore, we can be satisfied with what we have and if we have excess, share it with others.
Prayer: Gracious God, Help me resist the many temptations to acquire more and more. Amen
Hebrews 13:5 Becky and I are financially blessed, but I feel confident in saying neither of us loves money or makes it the driving force of our lives. I admit that’s easier to say if you have sufficient money to meet your needs but I believe it to be true. Perhaps it is not appropriate to compare, but I am reminded of the story of the interview of an extremely wealthy man who was asked something like, “You lack for nothing, you could purchase anything you want. How much money do you need?” His answer was, “Just one dollar more.“ I don’t want to be that guy.
Prayer - Keep me content with all the blessings You have provided to me…
