Colossians 2:16-17
Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.
When I read these verses, it helps me to see how difficult and confusing it must have been to sort out rules and laws in the young Christian church. We still have disagreements today, 2000 years later! The Sabbath, it seems, is a time to honor God for all He has done and is doing in our lives. What better way to honor Him than to love our neighbor! I am going to start thinking of Sunday as a day reserved for Godly work and not earthly work.
Holy Lord, I believe you meant for Sabbath to be special. Help me to learn to keep the Sabbath for you, and if there is work to be done, let it be Godly work. Amen

We need not worry about foods, or drinks or any other method of criticism because we have the armor of God. By giving us the Holy Spirit, Christ has given us all we need and more, from first to last. Colossians 2:16-17 If one has been paying attention over the years. It seems as if there are a million complaints about worship services. The music is too old fashioned. The music is too modern. The service is too traditional. The service is too contemporary. The sermons are too political. The sermons don’t address modern concerns. The sanctuary is too hot. The sanctuary is too cold. The children are too noisy. There are no children in worship. The list goes on and on. Paul reminds us these are but a shadow of things to come. In this season of anticipation of the coming of Messiah, wouldn’t it be wonderful to make it all about Jesus and nothing else?
