A Daily Devotion for Friday, August 1

Isaiah 41:13

For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

This is such a powerful message from God, one that is repeated over and over, especially in the Old Testament. God recognizes our discomfort, takes our hand, and brings us through our trouble. As Tom and I prepare for our Camino walk, I have been thinking more about how to honor God and grow closer to Him through the experience. This passage from Isaiah reminds me I only need to reach out my hand to Him each morning, and He will walk with me.

Holy Lord, I know you will be with us on our walk to Santiago. Help me to remember to reach out my hand to you each day, and know you are walking beside us. Amen

Isaiah 41;8-16

It is Monday and I feel I can finally write this Friday devotion. My church friend, Sandy Bancroft, died Friday morning. The only thing I can say right now is that am sure God held out his hand and she happily took it and moved with him to heaven.

Prayer: Gracious God, You sure got a good one today! AMEN

Isaiah 41:13

The presence of God is so comforting. In times of joy or times of despair when I turn to Him and I feel that presence. I know He will always be there to take my hand. The Upper Room writer used the example of a child taking her father‘s hand to cross the street with great trust. We talked about that same analogy in Transformers last week. Oh to have that child-like trust in God! It breaks my heart to know that people who do not have a relationship with God and have not accepted Christ go without this comfort and that makes me sad. I hope that someday they will make the choice in their lives to…

God walks with us

(Focus: those who find it hard to trust God

Isaiah 41:13

For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”

This verse is a  powerful reminder of God's continued presence in our lives. He lovingly takes hold of our hand, providing us with the courage, strength, and support we need to overcome any challenge. He encourages us to release our fears and trust in his help, knowing that He is always by our side. We can move forward with faith, knowing that He will never leave nor forsake us.  My thought for this day is…

Scripture is replete with the encouraging reminder that God will never leave nor forsake us. I must discipline myself to bring these to mind in the face of challenges to my faith, temptation, difficult people and adverse circumstances. God does not make troubles vanish, but God has promised to walk with and guide us through them. Being reminded of this never outlives its welcome.

Prayer - God of all protection and care, thank You for walking with me and when necessary, taking me by the hand to better solutions for trouble, discouragement and disappointments. Amen
