A daily prayer from the New England Conference

The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

1 Samuel 8: 4-11 “Appoint for us a king to govern us, like other nations.” Lord, every time I think that the Old Testament was long ago and that we as Christians can’t possibly be as rebellious as the Israelites, another scripture jumps out at me. Oh no, I didn’t ask for a king but I was in a platoon that had to have someone to lead us the half mile down the road. Truly we said “Give us a sergeant to lead us, like the other platoons.” You have hemmed me in with the trinity. Help me to trust that leadership, even when I can’t see it. For that which I can see and that which I can’t, I thank you. Amen. Kelly Santiago, Administrative Assistant, Katahdin District, NEAC
