No Worship in Our Church Building

October 2, 2020

Dear Members and Friends,

As you know, we have been dealing with an issue regarding the ceiling in our Sanctuary. We made the decision to reopen using Wesley Hall as our place of worship. Last week was our first official gathering in the vestry. Jeff Jones worked diligently to make this happen, from writing our Reopening Guidelines, to preparing the vestry to adhere to not only our guidelines, but those of the United Methodist Church and the State of New Hampshire as well. Thank you Jeff for your service.

We learned this week that our insurance company, Fred C. Church, has determined that we are unable to not only occupy our Sanctuary, we are unable to occupy as well. This is a disappointing development but our first thought must be for the safety of our Church family.

Members of the Church Council met last night to discuss possible alternative meeting places for our worship services. We have brainstormed several options and we are exploring the availability of these locations. We look forward to having a solution to this problem in the very near future.

This new development means that we will not be able to gather together on Sunday,

October 4th, for worship. The New England Annual Conference has recorded a service to celebrate World Wide Communion Sunday which will serve as our service this week. Pastor Gil will be sending out a link to that prerecorded Zoom service. You can also go to neumc.org to find the service.

This new development has left us discouraged, but Romans 12:12 tells us to “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” Please pray for our Church, Pastor Gil, the leaders of the church and for one another as we try to navigate these new twists and turns.

Peace,

Jackie Stock

Church Council Chairperson
