A daily prayer from the New England Conference
The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
James 5: 13-16 Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise. Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.
God of Love, our lives are immersed in your presence, enfolded in your compassion. We thank you for your grace and healing in our lives. You invite us to draw close to you, to pray when we are suffering, to join with others in prayers for healing, to gather with one another to confess and forgive. How amazing and wonderful it is, O Lord, that you hear our prayers, that you answer our prayers. Send your forgiveness and healing on all your people, and fill our hearts with songs of praise. May our very lives and our life together bear witness to your saving love. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
