Daily Prayer

Sept. 15, 2022

A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

A morning has come, O God.

Yet the night of your weeping still continues

as your poor people still are hurt and oppressed.

Even after some twenty-five hundred years,

They are still searching for a tiny piece of balm, which is so lavishly and unfairly abundant for most of us.

May our heart breaks at the suffering of the poor as yours still breaks.

May our grief never stop until your poor people have life and have it abundantly.

May our lament be your lament that echoes your healing and proclaims your justice for the poor.

May our tears become your baptismal water for this world to renounce, reject, and resist all that make your poor people suffer.

A morning has come, O God.

Bless our every morning to end the night of your weeping. Amen.
