A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

Gilead “The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears or the sea.”? from Isak Dinesen’s Seven Gothic Tales

It is a hilly testimony —

a mountainous witness —

a high, dry, windy, rocky place

to the east of the blessing river —

bound by the salty seas, watered by tears —

a place for runaways,

prophets,

tribes,

and the one who glimpsed the promise.

Is there no balm in this place?

Is there no physician?

There is need for healing.

There is need for restoration.

Come to Gilead,

Gentle Healer.

First Physician,

come to this place.

Let it be so.

To be prayed with Jeremiah 8.18-22 By Rev. Jill Colley Robinson, Green Mountain District Superintendent
