Daily Prayer

July 31, 2022

A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

Eternal God, We come to you reminded of an undeniable and yet humbling truth: We are mortal, and the days of our very precious earthly life are numbered.    We confess that we have been busy planning out our future,  Chasing after worldly pleasure,  Trying to secure our treasures,  Indulging in the collection of disposables.  We have been self-centered,  And indifferent to the importance of connectedness and communion with others.    Forgive us, O God, as we forget to trust you,  Remind us every blessing comes from you.  Help us to save not only for ourselves. Teach us how to store up our treasures toward you. Grant us the ability to let things go and even empty ourselves.    Fill us with your joy and steadfast love.  Bless us with abundant life.  We give thanks to you, for you are good and your steadfast love endures forever.  We pray in the name of the Giver of life, Amen.

Rev. Taesung Kang, Granite District Superintendent Inspired by Ecclesiastes 1:2, 12-14; 2:18-23; Luke 12:13-21
