Daily Prayer

July 19, 2022

A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

We long to open our lives and hearts before you in honest prayer.  You have taught us to ask, search and knock, but we wander around aimlessly.  Our prayers are focused in our struggles, but not based in your love.  The weeds of worry guide the places where our minds go and they lead us to shadows and dead ends filled with more worries.  You have given us a menu for prayer and we are busy filling out our complaint form. Inspire us to explore the vastness of the landscape of prayer.  Help us to see the sunrise of the light of your faithfulness every day.  Strengthen our prayer muscles beyond anything we have ever imagined.  Remind us that your Spirit longs to respond and lead in our lives if we just take the time to listen and learn.  We pray as those who long to learn to pray from the one who desires good for us, Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen. By Rev. Dr. Wesley Palmer- Executive Director of the Preachers’ Aid Society Inspired by Luke 11:1-13
