Daily Prayer

May 29, 2022

A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

May the circle be unbroken, we sing, Lord, with assurance that by and by we will all be together once more; united, happy, free. But on this side of heaven, we do not find unity. We do not find a circle of trust and love and oneness. You prayed for us to be one through you and not only us but all those who may find you through us. But our circle remains broken. Lord, help us to be one, now in this life. Help us to know that the color of our skin, the way we worship, who we love, and all of our differences do not break the circle, in fact, it expands our circle. We can draw our circle, Your circle wider, Lord. We can be united. We only need to stand side by side in Your name, in Your love, in Your way. May your prayer of unity for us be true and complete today, Lord. May we live into the reality that we are all one in and through you. May our circle be wide and unbroken Lord, not in the by and by but in the now. Amen. By Rev. Dr. Jacquelyn Brannen, Katahdin District Superintendent John 17:20-26 “May the Circle Be Unbroken,” by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band “Draw The Circle Wide,” by Mark Miller
