A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

Do I love you? Lord, you ask me if I love you. Of course, I do. You know I do. And there are times when feeding your sheep is so easy. I long to share the news of your love. I long to clothe the naked and heal the sick and set the prisoners free. Then, you ask me again. Do I love you? Yes, I love you. Yet, it is not easy to follow you or to even know where you are leading me. You ask me to care for your sheep. Does that mean forgiving them when they are wrong? Does that mean putting aside my own opinions and desires to allow theirs to take priority? Yes, Lord, I love you. You ask me one more time. Why do you ask me again, Lord? I have followed you to the best of my ability. Are you asking me for more? Will I follow you to the Cross? If that is your will Lord. I love you and while I do not know how to follow you even unto death, I trust that you will show me the way. I love you. Amen. By Rev. Dr. Jacquelyn Brannen, Katahdin District Superintendent Based on John 21:1-19
