Today's Prayer
Holy and Faithful God, We give thanks to you for the many blessings that we have received from you and that you continue to bless us with each and every day even when we don’t recognize them. We give you thanks for our families, for our churches, and for the faithful leadership of all of our pastors, our District and Conference staff who work so hard on our behalf, and especially for our Bishop who leads us with an open spirit overflowing with compassion and hope. Today we pray for our world and for all of us that need your presence and restorative touch: for those of us who are anxious, for those of us who are lonely, for those of us feeling vulnerable, for those of us dealing with the aggressive actions and behaviors of others, for those of us feeling broken in body, mind, and spirit. Be close to all who call upon your name and grant each of us the knowledge of your presence and the hope of a better tomorrow. Psalm 126 The Message 1-3 It seemed like a dream, too good to be true, when God returned Zion’s exiles. We laughed, we sang, we couldn’t believe our good fortune. We were the talk of the nations — “God was wonderful to them!” God was wonderful to us; we are one happy people. 4-6 And now, God, do it again — bring rains to our drought-stricken lives So those who planted their crops in despair will shout “Yes!” at the harvest, So those who went off with heavy hearts will come home laughing, with armloads of blessing.
