Daily Prayer

Nov. 20, 2021

A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

Scripture - 2 Samuel 23:1-7 and Psalm 132:1-12

Precious Lord, I long to be like David – to not be able to stop, rest, or sleep until you have a dwelling place worthy of your greatness.

I long for that place to be my heart, but I know it is not ready. Nor will it be without your help. Bread of Life, open my heart to feed others with food that will satisfy. Prince of Peace, make room in my heart for all of God’s children. Loving Redeemer, cleanse my heart of pride, superiority, and negativity. Wonderful Counselor, guide my heart to see what you see in people. Good shepherd, lead me down paths that make my heart beat for you first and foremost. Master, take control of my heart.

When I submit to these works on my heart, Almighty One, there will be a dwelling place for you. As I learn your ways of the heart, there will be a welcoming space for all of God’s children. Your love will shine forth like the sun rising on a cloudless day, And all will be well. Let it be so. Amen. By Brenda Cayer, Administrative Assistant to Bishop Devadhar
