A daily prayer from the New England Conference
The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
A Prayer based upon Hebrews 4:12-13 Great Creator God, would you fashion space for me today to hold my heart before you in naked honesty? Before your words-as-swords come to mince and divide me up, piece by piece, limb from limb, would you reassure me that your speech is love and that your presence is unfailing life? Then, Holy and Beloved, I could keep my frightened heart from hiding away in the bushes and covering up with the leaves. Then you could have your way in me and remove the ulcers and tumors in my soul. We could remove and carry them out together, as from a sanctuary where holy work has been accomplished. We could hold them together in the light of day as flesh and blood evidence of today’s new birth. Amen. Rev. Dr. John B. Whitley, Milford United Methodist Church, Milford, NH
