A daily prayer from the New England Conference
The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
“The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword.” Heb. 4:12 (You are invited to read/pray slowly and reflectively)
How shall we turn swords of aggression into instruments of peace? In the kin-dom of God, swords shall become plowshares and spears shall become pruning hooks— instruments to cultivate the land and bring forth the grain and the grapes that will feed human hungers --which are many. The bread and the wine from the fields will supply the Table for the feast on Mt. Zion, which is for all people; and the Table in the kin-dom of God when people from the east and the west, and the north and the south—all people— shall come and sit and feast together. May we embrace this vision, and may it feed and sustain us. Amen.
