A daily prayer from the New England Conference
The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
Psalm 48, Mark 6:1-13 Holy Holy Holy, God, only you are holy. And we who you made in your image are trying to get there but have so far to go. We walk the earth of your creation somedays in awe somedays in confusion many days in fear and trembling realizing the limits of our own knowledge, the fragility of our own being, our ability to hurt one another, with intention or not. our power to tend or tear the very earth that sustains us. Help us not avoid each other’s hard truths as we struggle out of our cocoons, emerging from pandemic traumas, engaging realities of individual and corporate privilege, energizing different courses of action, breathing one air. If our ships be shattered, bear us up on waves of grace. Carry us to the shore you prepare. Help us not fear evidence of your kin-dom when we see it. Or avoid naming where our efforts fall short. God, we beg that the trembling of anger become labor pains’ spasms. Purify the spirits with in us Elevate us to the aspirations of your kin-dom as it is born within and around us. Help us fall in love again. Help us. So that the next generation may stand on our strength Not our rubble.
