A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis
During these difficult days, members of the clergy class of 2021 are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today’s prayer
Inspired by John 5:9-13
God of creation, we were created to live in the world, not on a small mat. Where is the right place for us to live in? It is the world, not a mat.
God of love, I pray for people who have been forced to live on a small mat because of poverty, health, race, sexual identity, language or immigrant status. When people forbid our neighbors to live in the world for different reasons, Jesus heals and sets them free from the mat because of one reason, Love.
God of justice, would you help us stand with our neighbors who pick up their mats and walk in to the world? If we are asked “Who is this fellow who told you to pick the mat up and walk?” We will say “It is Jesus.”
Where is the right place for children of God to live in? It is the world, not a mat. Junsang Lee, candidate for commissioning/membership as a provisional elder
