Exodus 33:12-23
Moses said to the LORD, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”
The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”
And the LORD said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.”
Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”
And the LORD said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.”
Then the LORD said, “There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen.”
One of the things I have been experiencing most recently with God is seeking a continuous sense of connection. In other words, the more frequently I communicate with God during the day, the more I know I am “already tuned in” and do not need to stop what I am doing, go back to the beginning and pray a long and involved prayer when I am hurting. It is a continuous relationship, always active, always vital. 24/7
Holy Lord, I know that you are accessible to me, every minute of everyday. You know my name. I am truly thankful to be included in your family of believers. Amen

Exodus 33:12-23
The statement the writer made in The Upper Room entry, “God knows our prayers, as well as our doubts and fears, before we utter them” speaks to me. Not only does he know what is on my mind and heart before it is uttered, He knows before I do. God is all knowing and always with me, in my most joyful moments and in my darkest times. I have always equated God with a gentle breeze, felt, but not seen, always comforting.
Dear God, thank you for always being with me and for knowing what’s on my heart and on my mind. Amen
Exodus 33:12:-23
I know God knows me. He knows me inside and out-good and bad. We talk often. What I need to work on is my listening skills. I do a lot of asking and not nearly enough slowing down and waiting for guidance. Even now as I write this, I know he'd like me to be quiet and try to listen for him.
Prayer: Gracious God, slow me down, help me hear you and not myself. AMEN

Exodus 33:17

And the Lord said to Moses, “This very thing that you have spoken I will do, for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.”
Moses speaks with god, as he dreaded the thought of going forward without the Lord's presence. God personally and intimately knows Moses, a relationship that signifies strong affection and high regard. This special relationship with Moses is the ultimate reason God agrees to show His glory. God's grace is demonstrated through his willingness to continue to lead and guide the Israelites despite their sins and shortcomings. This demonstrates the compassionate…
Exodus 33:12-23 I wonder what was up with Moses. Was he extremely cautious? Was he doubtful in the sense that Thomas was doubtful; not necessarily disbelieving, but needing “proof”? Was he simply Insecure about his innate abilities? Whatever the case, he kept the questions coming, but God was endlessly patient, reassuring, yet firm in the commands given to Moses. Questioning God is not a sin. Moses, Job, Abraham, Joseph, even Jesus as He suffered on the Cross questioned God. The crucial act is to trust in the face of the questions.
Prayer - Lord, Your ways are not my ways. I struggle with the “information gaps,” but earnestly strive to put my full trust in Your care and concern for me…
