Galatians 3:23-29
Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
I especially love the verses from Galatians. Paul was called specifically to evangelize the Gentiles- what if he had misunderstood or was too angry or too frightened to accept that Jesus wanted him?!? How would things be different today? Would we have come to know Jesus some other way? When I think of the faith of Paul, his courage, wisdom and eloquence, it is awe-inspiring. God chose him, and gave him all the tools he needed to do His will. Of course, all of the increase comes from God, but Paul was amazing. And to think he had spent so long hating and persecuting early Christians only to give his life creating an inclusive family in Christ.
Holy Lord, I am so thankful for the family of God. You find people to continue your will (and work) here on earth. I hope that I am hearing you when you need me to hear you. Thank- you for your many blessings, thank you for walking with us. Amen

1 Peter 2:9
In the Upper Room, the thought for the day was “every day God surprises me with blessings”. What came to my mind was the “chosen people” Peter speaks about can come from all walks of life. It reminds me of a late afternoon when I was cleaning off my desk in preparation for medical leave I was taking to have a total knee replacement. There was a light knock at my office door and there stood one of my surgical techs. This was a young lady who had quiet demeanor, but “looked a little rough” and had quite a number of tattoos. She was a good technician. When she walked into my office, she simply said, “may…

1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
This means centering our worth in Christ, not the world, and using our unique gifts to serve God and share His message of salvation and transformative power, allowing their lives to be a testimony of His grace and glory. Use your words and deeds to tell others about God's goodness and the amazing change He brought about when He called us out of darkness into His marvelous light. I also…
1 Peter 2:9
“God’s special possession” I can’t say I often feel that way, but I can recall times growing up in Dayton when I disappointed or angered my parents. In the moment it was horrible, but at no point did I have remotest thought I was not their special possession. God’s love is even more steadfast than this and it is something I need to plug into more often.
Prayer - Lord, grant me the discipline and good sense to always remember Your love for me and let that divine love be reflected in my actions toward others. Amen
