Titus 2:11-14
For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope- the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
I looked up the word 'redeem' in the dictionary this morning, and these verses very clearly illustrate the meaning I read: paying or giving something in order to get something back, or something in exchange. Jesus' life was exchanged for his people's eternal life. The extra layer of meaning from scripture is that with Jesus redeeming us, we are saved from a fate worse than simply death. We are saved from an eternity separated from God, and promised an eternity with Him. Redemption takes on a new meaning for me starting today.
Dear God, thank you for taking me in, and including me in your promises. Thank you for redeeming me. I will try my hardest to live up to your plans for me. I will try to be a good and faithful servant. Amen

Titus 2:11-14
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.
Paul tells Titus to urge Christians to do good works and encourage them to live out the good news of the Savior’s appearance in the world. The gift of God is intended to make redeem us…
Titus 2:11-14 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
This verse made me think of all the things that are wrong in this world. Where would we be if Jesus had not taught us to ignore all that and do good things whenever we can. If no one followed God’s teaching, delivered to us through Jesus, then mankind would have destroyed itself and the world long ago. If all the leaders in the world were true Christians, what a world we would have.
Dear Lord, thank you for your redeeming message sent to us through Jesus. The…
Titus 2:11-14
Spiritual redemption, even that provided by the sacrificial death of Jesus, requires a specific action on our part. I recall Nancy Reagan being ridiculed by cultural elites and mocked by a hostile media for her “Just say no” campaign to fight substance abuse. Yet Paul implied to Titus this was to be our response to all sin when we had been redeemed by Christ. Those who laughed at the First Lady are laughing no more in the face of the opioid crisis that continues to grip our society, yet continue to show their spiritual ignorance with useless and desperate measures such as establishing “safe spaces” to use drugs and suing pharmaceutical companies. Until Jesus returns it is u…

No one is exempt from God’s grace. Those of us who believe in Jesus Christ will have eternal life. People that do not believe, will be eternally separated from God. Jesus died for…
