Ecclesiastes 3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
I have always loved this verse, because it reminds me that God created us to have a longing for eternity. We long to experience eternity, and we seek God. God promises us we will live with Him forever, and somehow we have a sense of what that means. Yesterday we talked about the first two verses of Genesis. What is the setting (time) of those two verses? We have no idea. It is almost easier to imagine eternity! If anything, today’s verses lead me again to the unfathomable powers of our God. He has let us in on some important truths, but we certainly do not know it all.
Holy Lord, I am so thankful for your promise of eternal life. I do wish I could better understand your Word, but much of it (and you) remain a mystery. Help me to keep my eyes and my heart set on the most important parts of what you have shared. Amen

Ecclesiastes 3-11
This verse comes just after the beautiful verses, 3:1-8, called A Time for Everything. As humans, we long for time—time to do everything. But we are impatient. We need to know the timing of everything. We yearn for everything to be perfect now, so we can experience it, But God does not work that way. We must trust God with our future and love him and do his work in the present.
Prayer: Gracious God, I will place my trust in your timing and continue to do your work now. Amen

Ecclesiastes 3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
To have a clearer vision relating to time, I think of our seasons. To everything there is a season. Some seasons look ugly, but they are followed by beauty, and it is during the in-between that they become beautiful again . In a similar way, we go through different seasons in our lives. There are times when everything is going smoothly, and we experience one good thing after another. Then, we go through minor disappointments and major tragedies, and sometimes…
Ecclesiastes 3:11
“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” This can be interpreted in a couple of different ways. I know which one I favor, but claim no special knowledge. God may have designated a specific time for each element of creation to be its beautiful best. The corollary, of course is that at every other time beauty is wanting. I prefer to read “everything is beautiful in its time” as beauty is found at every stage of life. As God’s creations we are beautiful now, but in a different way than we were beautiful when we were 30, 18, 6 years or 3 months old. This evolution of beauty offers a glimpse of the eternity we find so…
