A Daily Devotion for Wednesday May 25

Matthew 5: 2-4

…and he began to teach them, saying:

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Jesus made it very clear during his time on earth- he was here for the broken and the downtrodden. Those who were sad or discouraged were welcomed by Jesus. In my own life, there are times I become so discouraged or disappointed or negative, I have the thought, “God doesn’t want to hear any of this from me. I am a disappointment to Him.” These verses tell me that this is exactly when I should turn to God.

Holy Father, you are a healer, a mender of brokenness. Mend me when I am so broken I don’t have the sense to seek you out. Amen
