Proverbs 4:25
Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.
Lately the Holy Spirit has been reminding me that He is the light on my path. “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light upon my path.” Today’s verse from Proverbs fits perfectly. If God is lighting my path for me, I need to keep my eyes straight ahead. The light is not helpful if I am looking around and going wherever the next whim takes me. Now that I am thinking about it, I am reminded of a hymn, “Turn your eyes upon Jesus…”
Holy Lord, I am thankful for your light on my path. Help me to keep my eyes and my heart with you, following your path, led by Jesus. Amen

Proverbs 4:25
Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your gaze be straight before you.
Chapter four of proverbs centers on wisdom. Many times when riding along in the car I find myself thinking thoughts that are productive, kind and thankful. I am especially thankful for all the blessings I do have. My conversations with God are intimate and sincere. The above scripture seemed vague to me at first, but as usual it became very clear. I ask for strength to avoid spend time with people who are giving to gossiping , complaining and being negative. I have learned to become like the same believers I surround myself with.
Lord, thank you for your grace…

Do not keep your eyes on the ground where you are walking, because you will miss the rock or tree just a few feet ahead of you. I see so many older folks walking with their heads down and eyes on their feet. The same could be said for each of us when we let things get in the way of our Christian journey. Don’t get distracted by the world and put aside time for devotion and Bible reading.
Prayer: Gracious God, help me stay focused on you each day. You know h…
Proverbs 4:25
There are times when it seems the whole world has ADD. We lurch from one crisis, real or imagined, to another, consistently forgetting the lessons of history and being distracted by every loud voice and outrageous action. Even the church has difficulty fixing her gaze directly on the most important task we have been given - making disciples for the transformation of the world. All the good works the church does can and has been done by charitable organizations and (very poorly) by the government. What makes the church separate should be our laser focus on why we do these things. Distractions, social, political, financial, are just that. May we always look straight ahead at the birth, life,…
