1Peter 1:22-23
Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.
I am thinking about this “sincere love” and how it might be a little different because it is the love between believers. But maybe the point is that once we know Jesus, we are able to love more fully. So this sincerity is about us and where our love for others is coming from. Jesus’ love was certainly sincere- he lived out his love to his very last breath.
Holy Lord, you have given so much to your people, day after day, blessing after blessing. May I learn to love with full sincerity, as Jesus loved. Amen

1 Peter 1:22-23
God loves us all, without condition. We should extend that same love, not just say it, but mean it. It is not just our words, but it is our heart. Our love for one another must be sincere, and we must push away any hatred we feel, strive to forgive and love.
Heavenly Father, help me to sincerely love as Jesus wants me too. Help me feel it in my heart. Amen.

1 Peter 1:22-23
Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;
I would like to Imagine that my beautiful, well-kept perennial garden is definitely my happy place. My garden would be beautiful because each day, I would do a walk-through to ensure that all is well. I would carry a bucket and pull any and all weeds visible .In the same way, my heart is kept pure by constantly being in God’s word. Each day, I would do…
1Peter 1:22-23
I discern in this passage John Wesley’s concept of grace, a complex, but essential process, the final product of which is sincere love coming deeply from the heart. Prevenient grace opens the heart to the new birth. Justifying grace makes the living and enduring word of God our lodestar and guide for our journey through sanctifying grace that purifies and perfects our hearts to offer to one another sincere love. There are days I feel much farther along this pathway than others. The turning of time’s page to a new year is a chance to reassess and dive into the journey with renewed vigor.
Prayer - God of sincere love, please continue Your work in softening my heart.…
