Hebrews 10:19-25
Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another —and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Proverbs 8:17
I love those who love me,
and those who seek me find me.
Today I will be driving for a couple of hours and I have been thinking about what to do to remain alert and attentive while driving. I know I will be having a long talk with God. Not a floating, out of body, rapturous communion, (I am driving), but a long and more complete prayer time than I am used to. The first verses from Hebrews remind me that God is, indeed, available and ready to speak with me, even if I ramble and don’t make a lot of sense. I will be asking God to keep me safe, and asking Him to be with all of us this weekend for Kenny and Nora’s wedding.
Holy Lord, I pray that you will watch over me today and keep me safe. Watch over Kenny and Nora, as they travel today. Please watch over all of the family and friends who will be traveling to be with Kenny and Nora for their wedding celebration over the next few days. Bless us, and hold us close, I pray. Amen

Hebrews 10:19-25 / Proverbs 8:17
So much is packed into these verses. It took a little bit for me to connect the dots, Jesus’s sacrifice, our relationship with God, and how we should live together. Verse 22 stood out for me, “Let us draw near to God…”. We are to do this “with a true heart”. This tells me to be honest with God, lay it all out there, worries, failures, fears, needs. I have to admit that there have been times when I have asked, “Where is God?” and I am ashamed. The Hebrews verses are telling me – hold on, hang in there.
Dear God, thank You for paving the way for me to come closer to you…
Hebrews 10:19-25. Proverbs 8:17.
There is a lot in these Hebrews verses. I was drawn to 24-25. “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another….
Spiritual growth happens BEST in a group, not in isolation. It is in group situations that we can encourage one another in love and good works. Meeting together helps Christians stay strong, loving, and faithful rather than trying to stand alone.
Prayer: Gracious God, thank you for this life of church going you have given me. I can’t imagine not having a church family. AMEN

Today’s Reading: Hebrew 10:19-25
Proverbs 8:17
I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.
For me, growing in faith and seeking God each day requires small steady habits, Tell him my Thoughts and plans each morning before I open my phone or social media. Read and think about scripture each day to learn God’s truth. Talk with God bravely and honestly throughout the day, share my worries, my joys and ask him for strength to obey, to do the simply right things daily because this will build spiritual hope. Choose to trust God’s plan over my own, especially if they go against…
Hebrews 10:19-25/Proverbs 8:17
The final verses in the reading from Hebrews this morning caught my eye and imagination. “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another —and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” The mishandling of so much of the response to COVID has left tremendous scars on many aspects of our lives. I grieve the loss of classroom and socialization time of millions of children and adolescents. I commiserate with the many families (like my own) who were denied the opportunity to have friends and family gather for the funerals of…
