Psalm 118:5
When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place.
This is an example of what we were discussing last night in group, I think. Being with God allows us freedom from fear and anxiety. We are no longer “hard pressed” or closed in. We are free to live our lives again. I often forget to turn to God and ask for this, but it is always there for me, and does not fail.
God, you provide freedom from fear and anxiety. You provide me with the way into a spacious place, and I will follow. Amen

Psalm 118:5
Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.
One of the greatest gifts we receive from God is the gift of freedom.
Freedom is the power to do what we ought to do, which is not always the same as what we want to do. from the beginning God gave us freedom which allows us to choose God as the Lord and savior of our lives and to be always loyal to Him. The way I see it, breaking free of sins, unhealthy attachments, fears, shame, etc is a part of restoring the fullness of the freedom that is mine to possess becoming the wa…
Psalm 118:5 I read many translations of this verse today. My take away is this, when we feel anguish, distress, or hemmed in by our troubles, our prayers to our Lord offer us freedom and space from our problems. I think of this verse as a “give it to God”verse. Once Shared with God, we feel relief and freedom. Prayer: gracious God let me always turn my problems over to you. Amen
Psalm 118: 5 When hard pressed. I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place.
Having faith in Jesus Christ sets me free. I feel that being a Christian gives me a different view of the way life on earth should and could be. I have joy and peace in my life because of Jesus. He gives me the promise of eternal life and by his death the freedom from sin. Through prayer I find peace. Through my belief in Jesus, I find freedom.
Dearest Lord, thank you for all you have done for me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
Psalm 118:5
“Spacious place” is the phrase that grabs me this morning. I agree with Becky that spaciousness in this context is a state of mind. I feel that sense of spiritual spaciousness (freedom from burdens large and small) as I sit in my little prayer corner each morning to begin the day in the Word and with God. I feel that spiritual spaciousness in our little house in Randolph in a way no ostentatious mansion can provide. Sitting around a table sharing a meal with Becky and the kids is a massively spacious place. There is a literal component as well. Some achieve that state of mind on the open water or running for miles along country roads. For…
