Psalm 37:3-9
Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Take delight in the LORD,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun.
Be still before the LORD
and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret —it leads only to evil.
For those who are evil will be destroyed,
but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.
Psalm 34:18
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Painful events come into our lives, and into the lives of those we care about. Very often, there is little we feel we can do to help. But being present with and for a friend who is suffering is a blessing for both. Especially when you and your friend are both believers in Christ, and share the one true faith in Him. There is nothing I can control or change for my friend, but I can remind her that God can do anything, and will bring peace and joy back to her life.
Holy Lord, help me to be a help to my friend. Amen

Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret —it leads only to evil.” Wicked schemes and their associated actions surround us and the consequences on individuals and communities are dire. Faith and prayer are powerful weapons, but are they enough? Jesus taught us to let our light shine. This may mean standing firm when popular opinion or cultural trends drift into what Scripture identifies as evil. Essential in that stand is to not take it in anger. This is a difficult task, but one that has more potential…
