Matthew 6:30-33
“If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.“
Today I am thinking about those who do not have what they need to live safe, even marginally comfortable lives. Are we meant to provide God’s blessings? (We must be the hands and feet of Jesus.) How can we do this? One of the biggest challenges is feeling at peace doing just one small part. My efforts feel at times like a tiny drop in a huge bucket. But when we all make a contribution, it will make a difference. God expects this from us, I am sure.
Holy Lord, help me to help others. Help me to see opportunities and act on them. Allow me to be a part of your shower of blessings. Amen
Matthew 6:30-33
These verses are telling me to stop worrying about the world and about things and start concentrating on all the blessings we have as believers. Everything we really need will be provided by God. We don’t need to compare ourselves to others. We only need to understand it is our closeness to God by prayer and study that brings us the blessings of an abundant life. Abundant in God’s love.
Prayer: Gracious God, I need these reminders you send my way each week. It is far too easy for me to forget how much you’ve done for me. Amen

Matthew 6:30-33
But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Jesus assures us that we are of much greater value to God, than a blade of grass, yet he still takes care of the…
Matthew 6:30-33
Over two thousand years later and we still get things backwards. Seeking God’s kingdom and righteousness comes as an afterthought if it comes at all in the mad dash for all the things pagans (and many Christians) run after. In a significant portion of the church, the very word “kingdom” has been abandoned as offensive, reflecting oppressive patriarchy. How can we seek that which we will not even say? Jesus’ instructions are clear. It seems to me quite evident that the church will not see renewal until we seek first the kingdom of God and enjoy the manifold blessings that result as opposed to bending to every twist and turn of cultural faddism. When the church is no…
