John 15:7
“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”
This is a tough verse that cannot really be understood out of context. Even in the context of the rest of the chapter, it can seem extreme. Jesus is instructing his disciples, and reminds them to remember all he has taught them. They are to remain in Him. When they pray, their prayers will be closer and closer to God’s true will, the closer they draw to Jesus. Thy will be done. These are important words for me to remember in prayer. God’s will is known only to Him. But I may have a better sense of what that means as I continue to seek Him out, and to live for Him.
Holy Lord, Thy will be done. Help me to clearly see my role, and help me to be a positive piece of your holy plan. Amen

John 15:7
But, if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want and it will be granted.
This is only one of many verses in John where Jesus is preparing the disciples for their future. He knows what will happen to him and he is reminding them that if they remember his teachings, they will have all they need to ,
fulfill their new role. Too many people interpret these words as if it is saying. “Believe in me and you can have anything they want. It is not things Jesus is talking about but the knowledge of his love and teachings they can pass on to others.

John 15:7
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
To abide(remain) in him does not mean to sit around being spiritual all day long. I do not need to read my Bible for hours every day or being in prayer for a very long time. I love studying God’s word and prayer but to think these activities are the only times I am abiding in him is not what he means. I can compare my relationship with Jesus, as the vine and the branch. He is the vine I am the branch. (The branch is entirely dependent on the vine.) When we…
John 15:7
Superficial reading of this verse, as skeptics are delighted to do in ridiculing faith, can be a stumbling block to seekers and those struggling with doubts. Becky really accurately identified the key to understanding this verse. The whole process of sanctification is long and arduous, but it is the only way to become and remain fully in Christ and for His words to remain in us. As we get closer to this state, our wishes, and thus our prayers, reflect those of God. When they are in perfect harmony, they will be done.
