Matthew 10:28-30
“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both souls and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.”
Ultimately, God is in control— of everything. We can be in the most dangerous and frightening situation imaginable, but always God is in control. Our ultimate destiny is in God’s hands. My physical being is temporary and will not survive eternity, but God has promised me eternity with Him. Why is this truth so difficult to hold onto when things go wrong? I think it is because we can’t let go of how we think things should be for us here on earth. We think that it is “wrong” to have pain or sadness. But even Jesus experienced great pain and sadness. I need to turn to God, always and in everything.
Holy Lord, you are in control, and I am not. I will look to you for comfort and peace. Help me to remember, always. Amen
Becky, transforming
