Isaiah 58:7
Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter- when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
My head is filled with lots of jumbled thoughts this morning. I think the photo is beautiful. But it brings to mind the needs of so many who live in that city, and barely make it from day to day. To live and work there, you pass the homeless and poverty-stricken each time you set foot outside the door. God does not want us to harden our hearts to what we see. He knows our strengths and our limitations. But he sees the good we do, the times we give and the comfort we share. No kindness is insignificant. No sharing goes unnoticed by God.
Heavenly Father, help me to see and be ready for opportunities to share. You place these opportunities in my path- may I stop to help, and not stop to step over. Amen

Isaiah 58:7 It is not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter---when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
We are called to share our faith. We can do this through ministry and service. To me this verse is a reminder to do everything to honor God. We should never turn away from someone in need. Whether it be the need for comfort, food or just to listen. Helping is service and service in God’s name will honor him.

Isaiah 58:7
As I read this verse, I wondered what the second word, “it “ referred to. Going back to the beginning of Isaiah 58 I learned the prophet was contrasting lifestyles of empty piety and genuine godliness. We must work out what God has worked in us in the way we live our daily lives, not just for an hour on Sunday. Ine way to do that is opening eyes, ears and hearts to the needs of others.
Prayer - Loving God, open my eyes, ears and heart to the joy of sharing part of what You have given me with another who is in need. In that sharing, may the recipient see Your face. Amen

Isaiah 58:7 In my study Bible, Isaiah 58 is titled true and false worship. Verse seven is true worship. I like to say Church is a verb. Doing as the Bible teaches us is the truest worship. It is not difficult. Our churches and our communities offer many opportunities for sharing our resources. People who need our help are all around us. We do not need to look far. Prayer: gracious God, as I worship you, may I know that sharing what I have with others is what you would have me do. Amen
