A Daily Devotion for Thursday, September 28

Romans 8:1-2

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

Eternal freedom. This is something to treasure. I do not need to worry that I will be judged because of my sins, or wonder, 'Did I repent and sacrifice adequately?' This grace from God- this promise of freedom, makes me even more motivated to do the right thing. This is not a free pass, but a reward which comes with expectations as well as promises.

Holy Lord, You have set me free on this earth, and promised me freedom for all eternity, with you! I will try as hard as I can to be worthy of your grace. Amen

Romans 8:1-2

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

His desire for us is that we are free in Christ who died for our sins. We don’t have to listen to Satan’s condemnation. When we fail ,…

Romans 8:1-2

Having the Holy Spirit within us as believers, gives us the moral compass to overcome the power of sin in our lives. This is the freedom the verse is talking about. All we have to do is listen and obey.

Prayer: Gracious God, The power of the Holy Spirit is awesome. Amen

Romans 8:1-2 By faith in Christ, through God’s grace we have been given the equivalent of a pardon. The theological word for this is justification. We no longer stand condemned, awaiting any punishment we may deserve. When a criminal receives a pardon they are freed, but are not free to resume their previous criminal activity without consequences. The saved Christian cannot lose their salvation, and even future sins are forgiven, but this does not eliminate the earthly consequences. Our freedom from the law of sin and death gives us supernatural power to resist sin in obedience to and love of the One who set us free.

Prayer - Merciful God, strengthen me to run the race You have set before me…
