Galatians 6:1-10

Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, for each one should carry their own load. Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor.

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

These verses from Paul’s letter to the Galatians cover a lot of different points. Each verse carries a message: gently rebuke when a believer sins, but do not be tempted to sin yourself, help each other, do not be conceited, be honest in your self-appraisal, don’t expect others to do your work, be generous with your teachers. And then, don’t ever think you are getting away with something that God isn’t noticing, you will get lasting rewards by spending time with God’s Holy Spirit, and not so much if you are always seeking pleasure. And finally, BE GOOD TO EACH OTHER! I wonder if this part of the letter may have been directed at newer believers who were struggling to live out everything they were learning. Even though it is a lot to remember, it is all good and follows Christ’s teaching.

Holy Lord, it is good to read Paul’s instructions to the Galatians. I can never be reminded too many times. Help me to stay on your path, always seeking to do your will. When I am not sure, I will try to do the next right thing. Amen

Galatians 6:1-10

The verse that really stuck out to me today was verse 6, “ Let him who is taught the Word share in all good things with him who teaches”. This has me reflecting on how grateful I am for those who teach me and guide me in my faith; my Pastor, my life group at church and certainly this group of transformers and others. Their impact on my spiritual journey matters and I am grateful.

Dear God, thank You for those You have placed in my life who help me grow. I know that you have placed them there so I can be closer to you. Amen.

Galatians 6:1-10

Being able to help someone in need becomes more precious and fulfilling as one grows older. It refutes the lie that seniors have outlived their usefulness and have little to offer the world. As Paul writes, in bearing another’s burden, we fulfill the law of Christ. What better way is there to express love of neighbor, and through that, love of God than to stand in the gap for someone in need of assistance of one type or another. Giving without thought of return is the essence of Christian love.

Prayer - Merciful God, there are so many needs of so many people. I cannot meet them all, but please grant me the compassion and the will to…
