A Daily Devotion for Tuesday, October 13

Psalm 113:1-4
Praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD, you his servants;
praise the name of the LORD.
Let the name of the LORD be praised,
both now and forevermore.
From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
the name of the LORD is to be praised.
The LORD is exalted over all the nations,
his glory above the heavens.
Psalm 118:24
The LORD has done it this very day;
let us rejoice today and be glad.
This is an opportunity to think about God’s faithfulness. Even though it is very dark outside right now, how certain am I that the sun will be coming up soon? 🔜 100%. I could not be more certain. I am certain because I trust God. Because I believe God to be the Creator, I trust His infinite wisdom and promises. I need to widen out that trust to include trusting God completely with my life, my prayers and the lives and prayers of all of my friends and family.
Holy Lord, help me to trust. I know I am not the one in control, it is you. Help me to walk with your Holy Spirit, and trust that when I “give up” control, I am not giving up, but handing over my worries and anxieties to you. I am thankful. Amen

Psalm 113:1-4. Psalm 118:24. Sunrise Hope
As some of you know. I love sunrises and sunsets. I am blessed to live with an east and west view and a lovely small lake to give marvelous reflections. The beauty of a sunrise is often astounding. God is a wonderful artist. Many people compliment me on my photos when I post them on FaceBook. BUT really, I am only good at capturing God’s beauty. AND as a friend told me the other day, what a wonderful way to start the day!
Prayer: Gracious God, many praises to God, the artist who starts each day with such beauty, AMEN
Psalm 113:1-4 / Psalm 118:24
Verse 3 stands out for me, “From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the LORD is to be praised!”
This tells me that every single day we have a new opportunity to praise God. I think of my family’s travels and the wonderful things we have enjoyed, the breathtaking Grand Canyon, the beautiful American rivers, streams, lakes, and oceans, the vast lavender fields of New England, and so, so much more. Each of these gives us an opportunity to praise God for these wonderful gifts but as wonderful as these things are, we need to be reminded that we don’t have to wait for something really special to acknowledge God.…
Psalm 113:1-4/Psalm 118:24
At some level, I would like to be a morning person who spontaneously wakes up at dawn and experiences the sunrise of each new morning and with it, anticipate the activities of the day ahead. I am not that person. John Wesley awoke each morning at four and spent two hours in prayer. I am not that person either. I admit, leaving the warmth and comfort of my bed in the morning is very low on my priority list. Once up, however, I do my best to dedicate the very beginning of the day, before anything else, to worship and prayer. I may not enjoy as many hours of the day as my early-riser friends, but the…
