Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”
This is such a difficult lesson to take in, and to truly live out. We are reminded through our adult lives and especially in our “earning years” to set aside money, prepare for retirement, etc. For me and Tom, this was good advice, because we are not exactly “business-minded“ people. But we have to remember, this is all temporary. It is not a guarantee of anything. Our guarantee is with God. If we didn’t have a cent, we would still have God.
Father God, you are forever: yesterday, today and tomorrow. I am grateful beyond words. I am yours. Amen

In reflecting on this lesson I try to remember that everything on this earth is temporary. I try to always be grateful for all that God has given me: family, friends, a warm and safe place to live, food and so much more. This is all by His grace. All the wealth in the world cannot make us happy. We cannot take anything from this world when our journey on earth is over.
Dear God, Please help me to always start each day with a grateful heart for all you have done for me. It is by your grace I have what I need. Amen.
Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Contentment cannot be found in financial security. Contentment comes with a trust in God that what we have or what we are experiencing is what we are suppose to have. God has given me many blessings and yes, a few heartaches, but he will never leave my side. Contentment for me comes in the knowledge that God is always with me through all the changes in my life.

Hebrews 13:5
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Three times Hebrews 13:5 states emphatically that God will not leave us helpless. When God says something once, we should believe he is serious. Saying it three times strongly emphasizes his promise to never leave us without support. I find that the more I spent time and meditate on God’s word the less I have to be anxious or fearful. I trust that all my needs will be met. God’s word has such power and remembering to meditate on it makes me feel better. Faith comes …
Hebrews 13:5
The lesson for me in this verse is in finding contentment in what we have. The most vivid demonstration of this I can recall was in Nicaragua. It was there, in the midst of what would be by our standards grinding poverty, I saw joyful, enthusiastic worship. They lived the aphorism, “When God is all you have, you realize God is all you need.” Despite their earthly poverty, they were spiritually wealthy.
Prayer - Generous God, You have blessed me beyond measure, yet greed or envy sometimes rob me of the contentment to be found in what I have. Help me to renew my mind to discern what is good, acceptable and perfect. Amen
