A Daily Devotion for Thursday, June 23

Writer: ontrakkontrakk

Numbers 6:24-26

The Lord bless you and keep you;

the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;

the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

This morning I read a little about this blessing which was delivered to the Israelites. The description I read made a point of saying the word “bless” was not meant to pertain to a gift. The concept of blessing had more to do with the relationship between God and the people of Israel. It went so far as to say the blessing was the relationship, the special nature of the bond with Israel. What do I learn from this today? Well, I have been included. I am one of God’s creation, and have been invited to know God through Jesus Christ. I now can include myself in this blessing when it is delivered in our little church, or anywhere.

Holy Lord, you have extended your blessing to include your entire creation, and I am so thankful. When you sent Jesus, you made it clear that everyone had an invitation. I am blessed, and thankful. Amen

When I hear the words "The Lord bless thee and keep you" it takes me back to church camp when I was a young girl. In the evening we stood around our campfire and sang God Be With You Til We Meet Again as well as saying those words of the Lord blessing each other. Even though I was young I felt such a connection to the words as they were comforting to me. We need these reminders of how God does bless us in so many ways

throughout our earthly lives.

Dear God, Let us always remember to be grateful for all the blessings you shower upon us. Remind us all to live with a grateful heart. Amen.

Numbers 6:24-26

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

While this is the message From God to Moses, Aaron and his sons, to give to the Israelites, I in-vision the same message for us today. How many times have I said God bless you to someone else, meaning every word I say. (25) And here the lord is blessing me/us meaning ever word he saids. What a wonderful intimate message this is, personal and powerful to all believers. We are protected every moment of every day by his all po…

God loves us. It is this gift, this blessing that makes us His children. By believing in Jesus, we are made holy and children of God. God’s promise is to always be there for us, to protect us and keep us safe.

Dearest Lord, you give such wonderful blessings to us. You gave your son, so that we could have eternal life with you. Your love just keeps on giving everyday till eternity. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Numbers 6:24–26 May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace. This blessing, given to the Israelites, has certainly stood the test of time. I have probably heard it hundreds maybe even thousands of times. We have been so blessed by our Lord. I once had a pastor who suggested we use blessing more often. Perhaps instead of thanking someone, bless them. At the time, I tried doing that. I have forgotten that over time though. Perhaps it is time again to give a blessing to others as I have been so blessed by our Lord. Prayer: gracious God you hav…

This is the blessing in the words that I heard at the end of services for most of my life. It always seemed so right to be sent out each week with these words in mind. It meant that God was looking after us until we meet again.

Dear Lord, thank you for being with me all week, every week. Amen.
