
Proverbs 27:17
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
Our relationships are important. What we have in common with a friend is amplified and grows stronger with our communion. I suppose this could refer to faults as well as strengths. So, as important as friendships are, they can encourage the negative as well as the positive.
Lord, help me to encourage my friends in positive ways and never be a catalyst for bad behavior. I know this is not as easy as it sounds. With your help, I can be more vigilant. Amen

Proverbs 27:17
As Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.
It would be impossible for one iron to sharpen itself it would need two. Left isolated, both irons would be dull and quite useless. God expects us to live and serve in a community of other believes, He desires that we build loving and growing relationships with other. It is much better to accept advice or even constructive criticism from someone we know, someone we love, and someone we know that cares about us, than it is from a stranger or simple acquaintance. We want to know that the person giving us the advise has our best interest at heart. Friends may indeed hurt …
Proverbs 27:17 This verse is immensely popular in men’s ministry circles. I remember it being highlighted as far back as the “Promise Keepers” movement of the 80s and 90s. The image of friends who care enough about one another to do what is necessary to help each other remain in Christ is powerful in this world that promotes Individualism to the point of isolation. Especially appealing is the reminder that this concept is a two-way street. Each friend has something to offer and teach the other.
