Matthew 6:8
…for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
We talked about this concept on Tuesday in our meeting. Even when we do not know what to say, or how to put our needs into words, turning to God is all we need to do. God knows. He hears our heart. I am not inclined to use this as an excuse to do less praying. On the contrary, I am beginning to look at prayer as an open wavelength to God. The more I use it, the stronger it becomes. I am also thinking about this: the stronger my “wavelength”, the more likely I am to hear God speaking to me.
Holy Lord, I will do my best to keep open the channel of communication with you. Hear my heart, I pray. Amen

Matthew 6:8
The longer Matthew reading made me think about how I grew up. While we certainly were not poor, we were not well off either. We lived in a modest 900 square-foot home in East Dayton, Ohio, my mother, a nurse, my father, a shoe repairman. Never when I was growing up did I ever think I would not have clothes to wear or food to eat and I always felt loved. I trusted my mother and father to take care of me, to provide for me and they did do so, as it turned out, by making many sacrifices. This childlike trust is the same trust we should put in God because He will take care of our…

Matthew 6:8
Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
God wants us to bring every thought, every desire, every need, every fear and every question to him. Does he already know it all? This verse saids so. So why pray. God wants us to grow closer to him and understand his heart, his mind and his plans for our life, and we can only do this through prayer.,He wants to talk to us about the things that are important to us. He also wants us to respond. We need to Stay persistent in our
prayers and stay in constant connection…
Matthew 6:8
I have often heard stories like this one; a need met before you even asked for help. Pastor Jen spoke about a similar incident in her life several yers ago. I believe these answered needs are the result of us having caring people around us who see a way to help. However, this is certainly not something we can count on. Yes, God does know our needs but that doesn't eliminate the need for prayer and, if answered, the need to thank Him.
Prayer: Gracious God, You know my needs better than anyone, but I'll still come to your for help. AMEM
Matthew 6:8 This verse often prompts the question, “Then why pray?” The question reveals a misunderstanding of what prayer represents. While it is true that examples of immediately answered prayers for specific material needs abound, prayer is not some transactional process wherein we call on God to fill an order like Uber Eats or Door Dash. I do not disrespect this morning’s Upper Room author. Her experience was very real and one that has occurred many times over. God is indeed active in individual lives. But God also knows our non-material needs; spiritual and emotional healing, repentance from sin that creeps into our life, protection from temptation that could lead us to sin. We may or may not ask God to…
