Proverbs 16:3

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

Maybe this little kitty is praying to God, thanking Him for the strawberry, and also giving thanks for God’s guidance and protection through the process? Probably not, but if I could stop at some points in my day, and ask for guidance and give thanks, things would most assuredly run more smoothly. I am thinking it is better to ask God to join me and help me along the way, than to complain to God about how things turned out.

Holy One, I ask you to be with me today, and to help me to do good work. May my work show your love to others, and glorify you. Amen

Proverbs 16:3

Commit your work to the Lord, whatever you do, and your plans will succeed

When we work by our own strength and expect to succeed we quickly become overwhelmed. We want to show others that we are capable, successful, and worthy of praise. We exert ourselves trying to prove that we’re good enough. That’s when we fall victim to stress, because – despite what we might like to believe – we are not perfect. This verse teaches me to just commit to the lord, another words It’s time to get over myself and to get comfortable with my weaknesses. Every opportunity or skill I have comes from God. On a daily basic this is…

Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

This verse made me think of being open to what feels right to do (God’s plan). My next thought was that this would reduce the tendency to procrastinate. If we accept what is right to do then we will get on with it. I don’t think that God’s plan always includes benefiting others. Sometimes he lays a plan in front of us that makes our life better also.

Dear Lord, thank you. I believe that my life has been better for following what occurs to me first – what you have put into my head. Amen.

Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

I need to work to give all my misgivings to God, because he is in charge, and I cannot take control. God can never work through me if I am anxious, have fear or just too proud to ask Him for help. God will work through me if I hold on to my belief in Jesus and work to do the best I can for Him.

Dearest Lord, please work through and in me to work for you in all I do. Giving glory, honor and praise to your name. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Proverbs 16:3

In the area of work, committing to the Lord whatever I do is the perfect formula for honorable service to others. How could any Christian carry out work that exploits others, deprives them of dignity or otherwise treats them uncharitably. This involves far more than compensation. Not everyone can be paid $100 an hour, but everyone can be treated with kindness and respect in the name of Jesus.

Prayer - Merciful God, in my day to day work, make me merciful as You are merciful and let all that I do reflect Your love for humankind. Amen
