Psalm 111:1-10
Praise the LORD.
I will extol the LORD with all my heart
in the council of the upright and in the assembly.
Great are the works of the LORD;
they are pondered by all who delight in them.
Glorious and majestic are his deeds,
and his righteousness endures forever.
He has caused his wonders to be remembered;
the LORD is gracious and compassionate.
He provides food for those who fear him;
he remembers his covenant forever.
He has shown his people the power of his works,
giving them the lands of other nations.
The works of his hands are faithful and just;
all his precepts are trustworthy.
They are established for ever and ever,
enacted in faithfulness and uprightness.
He provided redemption for his people;
he ordained his covenant forever—
holy and awesome is his name.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;
all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.
2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
There is a lot in these readings, and the devotion from the UR is powerful. When I read both of the chosen scriptures, one verse jumped out at me, right away, and I couldn’t get beyond it. It is the first part of verse 4 in psalm 111. He has caused his wonders to be remembered;. I am always struck by scripture that speaks to God’s design of man. God created us in a way that ensured we could know him, seek him, follow him, and recognize his presence and his works among us. We know God created us to be (always) in communion with Him.
Holy Lord, I believe and I know that when you created me, you intended for me to follow you. You have given me all that I need, and you have put wonders in my path. May I be more aware, and more grateful. Amen

God provides

Today’s reading psalm 11:1-10
2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
The Book of Psalms explicitly and consistently exalts the Lord, glorifying him with praise, worship, and prayers. (this one as well)This verse teaches us that God is capable of every favor and earthly blessing. We can always have complete assurance in everything, and have more than enough for our good works. God loves to take care of us, bless us and provide what we need. Instead of going through life with a half-hearted…
Psalm 111:1-10/2 Corinthians 9:8
Our readings this morning provide a recitation of many attributes of God: author of great works and glorious and majestic deeds, possessing enduring righteousness, graciousness, compassion, faithfulness and justice, provider, trustworthy redeemer and eternally worthy of praise. Even if these were God’s only attributes, who, believing these things to be true. would not worship such a Being? The writer of today’s Upper Room reflection has maintained her belief in the truth of the claims of the psalmist and the Apostle Paul about God despite a life-changing catastrophe that has left her disabled. A faith this strong is a model and inspiration, but we must not forget that our faith always has the potential to strengthen on…
