Psalm 145:4

One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.

Whether intended or not, we are part of a great group of mentors by being faithful Christians. We are part of that "percentage of American adults" who are active, faithful believers. We help to pass on the faith and the knowledge of our gracious God. Whether we actively play the role of mentor or simply live out a good, Christian life of faith, we set an example. I need to remember this, as I do not hold a teaching or mentoring role, but I do interact with a lot of people. My faith is no secret; my faith is shared whether I am intending to share or not.

Holy Lord, help me to be reflection of your light and love to others, and to always set a good example. Amen

Becky, transforming

Psalm 145:4

One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.

Telling the deeds of God to the next generation is not just simply telling a good story.  In this Psalm, David  appeals to his generation to share the story of Jesus  just as prior generations  have taught us. This reminds me of an old hymn , tell me the old, old story of Jesus and his love. Passing on this story is the responsibility of all of us: parents, grandparents, uncles, aunties, bible study leaders, children’s & youth workers. In last week’s scripture ,Titus tells us that the older men are to mentor younger ones. It also tells us that…

Psalm 145:4

As I read this several times, I thought of my own childhood. I was surrounded by adults who were believers. We all attended Sunday School and church. I knew why and have tried to pass that on. It is how my children were raised as well. But, I see today how the world and its unbelief has influenced the next generation. They find it harder to prioritize Sunday for church. There is time for shopping, movies, and kid’s sports but not church. I find it sad that we now have a generation without the knowledge to sing God’s praises to the world.

PRAYER: Gracious God, Help me find an answer to show people your wonderful works and love…

Psalm 145:4

What a powerful small message but mighty message is that! That the word that spreads the message of the might act that my seem small but it’s powerful, something as simple as a tissue for someone in need to dry a tear, its mighty, a smile to a passerby is small but mighty.. Hillside is that small little church in Goffstown and we are small but Mighty! The amazing work that we as Christians do may seem like work but to others they tell of our mighty acts…

Dear precious Lord, thank you for the work we do for others and help me to understand how they are mighty acts and not just work!

Amen

Psalm 145:4

This verse speaks directly to an area where Protestant churches writ

large have fallen way short. Catholic education in the faith is excellent and well-known. Less known, but also very strong is the instruction in the faith in the Orthodox and Jewish traditions. I remember as a kid my Greek cousins going to “Greek School” as well as to their secular public school. As a consequence of our neglect, fewer and fewer young people stay in church beyond their early teens. We should not despair or give up, but continue to find ways to share the mighty acts of our Triune God as well as the cloud of witnesses who nurtured our faith with young people in our…
