Exodus 14:1-18
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites to turn back and encamp near Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea. They are to encamp by the sea, directly opposite Baal Zephon. Pharaoh will think, ‘The Israelites are wandering around the land in confusion, hemmed in by the desert.’ And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them. But I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD.” So the Israelites did this.
When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said, “What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!” So he had his chariot made ready and took his army with him. He took six hundred of the best chariots, along with all the other chariots of Egypt, with officers over all of them. The LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, so that he pursued the Israelites, who were marching out boldly. The Egyptians—all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots, horsemen and troops —pursued the Israelites and overtook them as they camped by the sea near Pi Hahiroth, opposite Baal Zephon.
As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the LORD. They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!”
Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen. The Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen.”
I will be honest- my first response to reading the devotion this morning and the assigned scripture was, “Wow, this guy really picked some powerful scripture to help with a fairly commonplace experience!” But when I thought more about it, the experience was very important. It was all about this individual’s relationship with God. He had been essentially pushed out of his place of worship because of the bad behavior of others. He realized his relationship with God was suffering because of it. God is on our side. He will protect our relationship with him. We must be loyal to God. What others think or say or do to us only has the power which we give it.
Holy Lord, help me to never allow the attitude or behavior of others to take me off the path which you have set for me. You have my back. I am yours. Amen

Exodus 14:14
The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
In order to understand this verse you might have to read the before and subsequent verses, but this verse alone is all you need because All you need is faith and trust in God and give it all to Him. He tells me If I just stand still, don't be scared or worried, he will take care of me. I only have to be still. I already give God so much of my anxiety The main reason that this bible verse is so powerful for me as I do not need to feel like…
Exodus 14:1-18
Frequently, especially in our current days, our confidence in God is tested. There are “black holes” all around us that temp us to question His plan. It can be easy to become discouraged and question what God is doing and why. As difficult as it may be sometimes, we must keep our focus on God, put Him first, and trust Him always.
Heavenly Father, please help me to trust You always and please instill in my heart confidence in Your plan and will. I know Your plan is the only plan. Amen
Exodus 14:1-18
Few of us will ever face a life and death drama like the Red Sea episode in Exodus, but as we see in this morning’s Upper Room, all of us will likely face some sort of Red Sea moments in life, big or small. Another small group Becky and I belong to did a Robert J. Morgan study on this very subject called The Red Sea Rules. Using the text of Exodus 14, he developed the following ten rules:
1) Realize God means for you to be where you are.
2) Be more concerned for God’s glory than your relief.
3) Acknowledge your enemy, but keep your eyes on God.
4) Pray!
5) Stay calm and confident and…
