John 14:25-27
"All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
Such a beautiful promise from Jesus! How can anyone ignore these words? Jesus comforted the disciples, at the same time comforting all of us who follow. The Holy Spirit is with us, always. We need not ever be alone.
Father God, your promises are forever. I am so thankful, and will try to live up to your love for me. Amen

Jesus is talking with his disciples, giving them advise, giving them strength, promising them an advocate, the Holy Spirit which would help them in any situation. All of this is happening around an evening meal. Throughout the meal he tells his disciples , H…
John 14:25–27 I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. But when the father sends the advocate as my representative – that is, the Holy Spirit – he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the piece I gave you is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. In the “message” translation, the advocate is called the friend, the Holy Spirit. I know in my life it is this friend that I can count on, talk with a lot, pray to, and thank for all I have. This is the finest of God’s…
John 14:25-27
I hear in this promise of the Holy Sprit from John’s gospel, an echo of yesterday’s New Testament lesson from Luke 21. In both readings believers are told that when the time comes to testify, we will be reminded of all we have been taught. In Luke we are told the words we will be given will not be withstood or contradicted by those who oppose the Good News. Whether on a sports team, on the job or in school, it is a comfort to know the coach, supervisor or instructor has your back. Jesus, Himself has told us that very thing and His promise will guide us through the roughest of times.
