A Daily Devotion for Monday, November 13

John 1:3

Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

Our human creativity is a gift from God- part of His own creation. We can do nothing without the gifts He has already given us. When I imagine a world without music, poetry, novels, paintings, sculpture, etc, it is a depressing and flat one, indeed. God wanted us to be able to create beauty of our own, but it ultimately comes from Him. God's beauty draws us to Him.

Holy One- you created each and every one of us for a purpose. Some were given gifts of great creative ability. This was not just for them, but for all to enjoy, and to help all grow closer to you. I am so thankful, and I feel closer to you when I am immersed in another's creativity, knowing it comes from you. Amen

John 1:3

The everything God created is us and all the people and things around us. The natural world is proof positive to me of the awesome power of God; from Becky’s dragon fly, a baby in the womb, and the sky at sunset. We must appreciate and take great care of this wonderful world he created.

Prayer: Gracious God, May we all take care of your creation so generation after generation can enjoy it as much as I do. Amen

John 1:3

All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Scripture teaches us that God created the world and all that is in it for His own glory and because He desired to share this with us. The creation of all these things demonstrates His glory, His love, grace, mercy, wisdom, power, goodness, etc I fully recognize that God is beyond our understanding. He has revealed himself to us in the pages of the Bible. But that revelation is incomplete. There is much about God that we are incapable of understanding or that he has not chosen to reveal to us. God’s thoughts and ways are not…

John 1:3

This rings out with God all things are possible! It reminds me when I created a lab coat for my granddaughter back in the day when she thought she was “Doc McStuffin” , I had no pattern I just looked at the cartoon and created it for her! She was thrilled..it’s also baking someones favorite meal, or doing a kind deed for someone, offering a hand to someone that just needs to see a smile can make the difference but where did it come from the gifts came from God! All thing bright and beautiful, the Lord God made them all!

Dear Lord,

Thank you for your gifts and helping me to create that which you want me…

John 1:3 This verse reminds me of the song so frequently sung in the Sunday School of my youth, He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands. From the lacy wings of the tiny creature in today’s image to the majestic blue whale, all derive from the hand of God. The wonders of the natural world are constant reminders of who we are and to whom we belong. This is a cause for celebration and praise. Without the loving care of our Creator God we are mere organisms who go through the motions of life instead of enjoying an abundant life of purpose, service and love.

Prayer - Lord of abundant life, I am surrounded by Your gifts of creation…
