A Daily Devotion for Monday, June 8

Genesis 19:1-15, 21:1-7

I am having a very difficult time this morning with this first passage. I can’t find anything to get me beyond the fact Lot offered his own daughters to the men from Sodom. Clearly we are meant to see the wrongness in this. But it is Lot’s wife who dies, for looking back at their home. Lot escapes, God knows why. Today I will look forward to the thoughts of others to help me find personal transformation from these passages. Every pilgrim needs help now and then, right?

Holy Father, sometimes your ways are more of a mystery than I can understand. Help me to see, to hear and to understand your Word and its meaning for me. Amen
