1John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
This verse speaks to the type of failure we experience all too often, that of sinning- when we go ahead and do or say something, quickly (or not so quickly) realizing it was not a good decision. Sometimes it is very hard for me to admit my part in something unpleasant, as it is much easier to complain about the outcome than to admit I was wrong. These are failures of my own making, and I need to ask forgiveness. But we have an awesome, forgiving God, who is "the God of second chances."
Holy One, I am thankful for your forgiveness and your grace. I am sorry for the times I have failed to acknowledge my part when things have gone wrong. Amen

What a glorious scripture. Sin is only a problem if we refuse to recognize it and deal with it. It is spiritually and emotionally gratifying to simply walk with God each and every day. As we do we need to confess our sins and wrong actions…receive his gift of forgiveness and continue to ask for help as each new day begins and ends.
I believe if I truly confess my sins and truly want to do the right thing, god will always keep me on the right track.

The failure I see in this verse is on our part. Our failure to see our own sins and more important our failure to confess and give God a chance to forgive us so we can move on to better things. As Christians, we know this, but sometimes we think our sin is so great it is hard to confess it. We need to remember that no sin is too great to share with God.
Prayer: gracious God, may I’ll never forget that you are always near, waiting to hear me. Amen
