Galatians 5:13
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
I am wondering if we spend too much time asking God to present us with opportunities, when the opportunities are right in front of us. Opportunities to love our neighbors, to love our church family and to do the “right thing” are under our noses. My dad used to say, “What are you waiting for, an engraved invitation?” That query belongs somewhere in our responses this week.
Holy Lord, Help me to see the many opportunities you set before me. May I recognize them and act on them—not waiting for an “engraved invitation”. Amen

Galatians 5:13
For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
Whenever I say, I love you, I mean it. What comes to mind is having a personal relationship with fellow believers, I can express a strong affection for them because we are free to truly live as servants of God. We are not using our freedom as a cover-up for evil. It is ONLY by the power of the Holy Spirit that I can love this way. This it not the same love I have for my children or grandchildren or husband . When these people are unlovely to…
Galatians 5:13

It is easy. to choose sinful things as they often bring instant but short lived joy. If we want happiness and joy to be our way of life, Paul tells us to serve one another with love. That's pretty good advice.
Prayer: Gracious God, help those who struggle in a sinful life to see the other opportunities around them. AMEN
Galatians 5:13
I see in Paul’s words a lament and warning about wasted opportunities. Choices we make may honor God or grieve God if we choose self indulgence over serving others. There is a time for rest and what has been called “self-care,” but our culture has taken the latter to an unhealthy extreme. Some are so centered on their own personal agenda and comfort that service to others is seen as some great sacrifice worthy of recognition and praise rather than simply a way of life that mirrors the teaching of Jesus. Being called free comes with responsibilities and is not a license to selfishness.
Prayer - Lead me, Lord to recognize and act on the opportunities You provide…
