Galatians 3:23-29
Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
The passage this morning reminds me of a conversation I had many years ago with a Jewish friend. She was critical of the Christian desire to bring more people into the faith; to encourage children to know Christ, and to invite other adults to believe along with us. She told me that this is not done in the Jewish faith. I can’t vouch for the veracity of this, but I explained that in Christianity, eternal life is promised to all who believe and accept Christ as their Savior. Wouldn’t anyone who knew the truth of such an opportunity want to share it with others? Through Christ we are brought into the reality of our brotherhood. We are all children of the same God. We are all heirs according to God’s promise.
Holy Lord, I am forever thankful for the opportunity you have given me in this life to know you, and to follow you. May I be worthy of this blessing. Amen

Galatians 3:23-29 Beloved Community
Thought for the day: Community is formed when we recognize God in one another.
If only people could look beyond the differences to see how much alike we all are. The human body is the same for everyone. Most people, no matter where, live similar lives: they love, they work, and are part of a community. If only we would see that what is the same or similar far out weighs the differences. Yet, we always seem to focus on the differences--never on the things that could bring us together.
Prayer: Gracious God, On this National Week of Unity help me reflect on ways I could be better at looking at unity than differences. AMEN

BELOVED COMMUNITY
(Focus: to see all people as children of god
Today’s reading Galatians 3:23-29
Galatians 3:26
For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.
The one verse that sticks out for me is 28: there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male or female, black or white for we are all one in Christ Jesus. We should treat people the way God treats us. He is always kind and compassionate toward us, even in our sin. His sacrifice on the cross sealed the forgiveness of our sin. Jesus modeled kindness, compassion, and forgiveness for all mankind to follow. And as His children, we should commit to doing the same.…
Galatians 3:23-29
This reading reminds me that I have no spiritual advantage over any other person who walks on this earth. In knowing the Truth, they have the same choice I have. We all belong to God, regardless of background, education or status. I think my dad set a good example of this. While my brother and I were growing up we saw that all we welcome in our home and at our table. For a brief period our dad owned and ran a small grocery store where he hired an interesting “cast of characters”. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized that he was trying to give those people a step up in life, a job, a…
Galatians 3:23-29
“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”
I have a reminder posted in my office. It reads, “if someone observed all I did yesterday, how would they have been able to tell that I have ‘put on Christ?’” There are days, I am sure, wherein this would not be seen at all, and that is on me. On this day, when we honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, his message of racial reconciliation and unity, which is, in essence, the same message Paul preached to the Galatians, his voice seems drowned out by the loud shrieks of…
