John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
If I ever need a model or an example to learn about generosity, this should suffice. I have to admit, it kind of makes my brain hurt to try and figure out what it was like for God to give his own son. But when we talk about being generous to the point of causing some hardship (to the giver), this certainly is the perfect example.
Lord God, you model generosity at every turn. The very air we breathe is a gift from you. I am thankful. Amen

John 3-16
From the Message: This is how much God loved the world. He gave his son, his one and only son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him Anyone can have a whole and lasting life.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have ever lasting life.
The second version is so well known. Even some non believers probably know this verse. Most of us in this group probably memorized it in Sunday School oh so many years ago. Although you really can’t improve on some Bible verses, I think the Message has don…

John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Perhaps the most memorized scripture in the Bible. Every body was taught from the very young to the very old. What’s most important than to memorize it , we have to believe it. God loves us whether or not we ever love him back ,and that is a totally different kind of love than what we normally think love is. Romantic love, parental love, and the love we have for friends and relatives are all based on the fact on what others do for us, what we do for other…
John 3:16
There is no better way to begin a new year than by contemplating the hinge of human history. As I look on a world that remains divided by inexplicable hatred and watch evil and wicked people willingly and eagerly fomenting the hate and division, the overwhelming generosity of the Creator comes into clearer focus. Satan will never give up the battle and my only refuge is the hope I have in God’s promise of eternal life for those who believe. Why so many in the world would prefer to race toward destruction than toward peace is a sad mystery. Sadder still Is that there are so many people of peace and good works who do not perceive their…
